What do you believe? It is an interesting question. We all believe something about any subject. I wonder how different our belief is about God? We are challenged as Christians to believe in God but are we aware that our belief about God is echoed in the way we treat each other?
This is outlined by this scripture.
1 John 4:20
If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
So how do we show love to a brother or sister? Love is not demonstrated in words alone. Our actions can sometimes be anything but loving. It is really easy to look at someone with a smile on your face and have bitterness in your heart.
Love begins in the heart, which is not seen, and expressed by what is seen (our words, emotions and actions). It is easy to say i love my brother. Those words cost me nothing to say them. The real test is how I treat my brother
We are challenged to believe in God but we also challenged to believe in each other. Thinking good, kind and loving thoughts to all irrespective of what they have done to us or other. This is easy for us to do when we realize that being filled with God’s love produces this level of love for everyone. Jesus modeled us so beautifully when he laid down his life. This is the greatest thing we can do.
I believe in God enough to lay down my life. What about you?
